The place of posting shall be in New Delhi but transferable to project locations of IndiaAI as per existing policy of IndiaAI.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Lead the Applications Development Pillar of the IndiaAI Mission, providing overall strategic direction, programmatic leadership, and institutional oversight across both Innovation Challenges and Mission Mode Projects workstreams.
  2. Provide leadership to the DGM – Innovation Challenges and DGM – Mission Mode Projects, ensuring alignment of their workstreams with the Pillar’s strategic goals and effective coordination across teams.
  3. Drive demand generation activities including organisation of knowledge-sharing workshops with Ministries, Departments, Public Autonomous Bodies, State Governments, MPs, MLAs, and other stakeholders to identify and refine high-impact AI problem statements.
  4. Oversee supply provisioning through Innovation Challenges, Hackathons, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), vendor empanelment, Mission Mode Projects, and in-house solution development, ensuring delivery of indigenous AI applications at scale.
  5. Lead the design and operationalisation of the Mission Mode Project Framework for sector-specific AI deployments in priority domains including healthcare, agriculture, education, climate resilience, governance, among others.
  6. Establish and manage the vendor empanelment mechanism for reusable, cross-sectoral AI solutions; and empanel system integrators to accelerate deployment across public-sector agencies.
  7. Oversee the Pillar’s engagement with Central Ministries, State Governments, regulatory bodies public autonomous bodies, and implementation partners to drive AI adoption and integration with existing government digital platforms.
  8. Manage partnerships with India’s AI innovation ecosystem, including startups, academic institutions, research organisations, industry partners, and IndiaAI’s MoU partners, to mobilise technical capacity for solution development and deployment.
  9. Ensure institutionalisation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks for deployed AI solutions, including periodic progress reporting, structured performance assessments, deployment site visits, and impact measurement against defined Key Performance Indicators.
  10. Oversee the Pillar’s contribution to the AIKosh platform, including the Use-Case Repository, vendor registry, try-out environments, datasets generated from pilot deployments, and public dissemination of AI solutions.
  11. Lead the establishment and growth of internal technical capacity to enable rapid in-house development of priority AI applications.
  12. Manage the Pillar’s budget, financial planning, and expenditure tracking; oversee procurement processes; and ensure efficient utilisation of Mission resources in line with government financial norms.
  13. Ensure all AI applications developed and deployed under the Pillar comply with responsible AI principles, including safety, fairness, transparency, accountability, and national guidelines on ethical AI.
  14. Prepare strategic notes, submissions, policy inputs, status updates, and presentations for senior government stakeholders.
  15. Lead, mentor, and develop the Pillar’s team, ensuring effective delegation, performance management, capability building, and creation of a high-performing institutional culture.
