IndiaAI is currently inviting applications for the position of  General Manager – Safe & Trust (AI Pillar) on a contractual basis.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy, work planning, and budget execution for the Safe & Trusted AI pillar in line with IndiaAI Mission objectives
• Drive development and adoption of tools, frameworks, and standards for AI safety, bias mitigation, explainability, and risk assessment
• Support the establishment and build-out of the India AI Safety Institute (AISI), including its institutional design, technical capabilities, and partnerships
• Lead evaluation and benchmarking of AI models for safety, robustness, and risk, working with technical teams and external evaluators
• Design and oversee grants and challenges to support Indian research and startups working on safe and trusted AI
• Coordinate with regulatory and standard-setting bodies to shape India’s approach to AI governance, guardrails, and accountability frameworks
• Build and manage partnerships with academic institutions, industry, civil society, and international counterparts on AI safety
• Track global developments in AI safety policy and translate them into actionable recommendations for the Mission
• Manage a team and external consultants/experts delivering pillar programmes, ensuring quality, timelines, and reporting to Mission leadership
• Prepare briefing notes, reports, and presentations for senior government stakeholders, including Mission governance bodies
