Responsibilities
A. AI Readiness Assessment and Capability Review
- Conduct a structured AI readiness assessment of teams and business units within DIC, covering skills, tools, data availability, processes, and infrastructure, using recognised AI maturity frameworks adapted to the government context
- Review how individual teams are currently leveraging AI tools in product development — including AI-assisted coding, code review, testing, documentation, DevOps and design — and benchmark adoption against industry practice
- Identify capability gaps at team and individual levels, and recommend a capability-building roadmap covering training, tooling, hiring, and organisational changes required for effective AI adoption
- Define and track AI adoption metrics and productivity indicators, and periodically report readiness and adoption progress to DIC management
B. AI Solution and Product Advisory
- Identify, evaluate, and prioritise AI use cases across DIC and allied government projects based on business impact, citizen outcomes, implementation feasibility, and organisational priorities
- Advise on AI-based solutions and products, and design end-to-end solution architectures incorporating AI/ML capabilities for DIC and allied government applications
- Evaluate the business impact, feasibility, risk, and expected return on investment (ROI) of AI initiatives and prioritise recommendations accordingly
- Recommend suitable AI models, frameworks, platforms, and deployment approaches aligned with organisational objectives, technical constraints, and regulatory requirements
- Evaluate AI products, platforms, models, and implementation partners to recommend fit-for-purpose technology solutions aligned with project objectives, regulatory requirements, and budgetary considerations
C. Manpower and Timeline Advisory
- Review manpower requirements, team compositions, and effort estimates proposed for DIC projects (including those in RFPs, EOIs, and vendor proposals) and advise on right-sizing them in view of AI-augmented development productivity available in the market
- Review project timelines and delivery schedules, and recommend realistic, AI-informed timelines reflecting the use of modern AI-assisted development, testing, and deployment practices
- Develop and maintain estimation guidance/benchmarks for AI-assisted software development to support future project planning, procurement evaluation, and vendor negotiations
- Advise on the appropriate mix of in-house staff, contracted resources, and AI tooling for ongoing and proposed projects
D. Architecture, Integration and Governance
- Define integration standards, APIs, and interoperability frameworks for seamless interaction between AI systems and existing Digital India platforms
- Establish and oversee data architecture, ensuring secure data flow, privacy compliance, and adherence to Responsible AI principles
- Architect, guide, and support the integration of AI applications with DIC’s existing enterprise systems and digital platforms
- Evaluate and recommend appropriate deployment models (cloud-native and on-premises) in alignment with MeitY policies and guidelines
- Provide technical guidance and architectural recommendations, ensuring scalability, maintainability, security, and compliance with MeitY and NIC technical standards
- Collaborate with Data Science, MLOps, and Engineering teams to ensure architectural consistency, interoperability, and implementation alignment
- Conduct periodic architectural reviews and recommend improvements to development teams and project stakeholders
