Academic Bank of Credits (ABC)
The ABC, an initiative of the Ministry of Education (MoE) under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, is a national digital infrastructure that enables students to securely accumulate, transfer and redeem academic credits earned from Universities and recognised Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) regulated by bodies such as UGC, AICTE, NCVET and others. ABC promotes academic mobility, multidisciplinary learning and lifelong education by providing a unified credit management framework.
APAAR (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry)
APAAR serves as the "One Nation, One Student ID", providing every learner with a unique 12-digit identifier linked to their academic journey. Integrated with the ABC ecosystem and accessible through DigiLocker, APAAR enables seamless authentication and consolidation of academic records from school education to higher education and lifelong learning.
National Academic Depository (NAD)-DigiLocker
The NAD-DigiLocker is the Government of India's trusted digital repository for academic awards. Institutions securely issue and publish verified academic documents through NAD, making them instantly accessible to learners via DigiLocker. These digitally verifiable credentials support paperless verification across government departments, educational institutions, employers and other digital service platforms through DigiLocker – MeriPehchaan-based integrations. In March 2020, the MoE notified NAD as a permanent scheme, implemented without any user charges, through DigiLocker under MeitY as the single implementing entity.
